Baldini Scholarship Dinner
Each fall, McLean County Democrats host a dinner honoring the recipient of the John Baldini Scholarship at Illinois State University.
The John Baldini Scholarship was established at Illinois State University in 1995 in memory of John L. Baldini '41 by his family, his friends, and both political parties. John Baldini served on Illinois State University's Alumni Board for 12 years, and was a founding member of the Redbird Club. He owned and operated the Lucca Grill in Bloomington and was active in the Democratic Party at the county and state levels for over 50 years. Baldini was respected by both political parties for his compassion and interest in others, for his honesty, and his positive impact on all with whom he interacted.
Honoring the Roosevelts Dinner
Each winter, the McLean County Democrats host an event honoring Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt.
Franklin D. Roosevelt was the 32nd President of the United States, architect of the New Deal and Commander-in-Chief during World War II. Eleanor Roosevelt was First Lady, first Chair of the United Nations Human Rights Commission, prolific writer, and advocate for democracy, civil rights, and social justice.
At the Honoring the Roosevelts Dinner, we honor a member of the McLean County Democrats who has provided outstanding service to our local Party. Democrats may submit nominations for the Roosevelt Award in December.
