CHAIR UPDATE

Chair Richards Photo

Hello Fellow Democrats,

Our volunteers are priceless and I'd like to take this time to thank our following volunteers for making ballot chase calls through the REV Project to ensure that those who have requested mail in ballots complete and return them or have made a vote plan.

▪️ Jeff Crabill ▪️ Laurel Peterson ▪️ Marcia Thomas ▪️ Heather Jia ▪️ Cyndee Brown ▪️ Michelle Webster ▪️ Derek Lough ▪️ Nathan Davis ▪️ Ron Nelson ▪️ Marcia Thomas ▪️ Amanda Boitnott ▪️

I would also like to thank Attorneys Hannah Eisner and Jean Swee who serve as members of our Voter Protection Advocacy Team.

As many of you are aware the Bloomington Elections Commission temporarily ceased early voting at the Grossinger Motors Arena for Bloomington voters to due a ballot error that failed to list two Circuit Court Judge retention questions. The McLean County Democrats would like to assure voters that we are taking all the necessary measures to fact find and hold accountable our local election authorities. The Bloomington Election Commission's ballot omission is a grave error that must be resolved swiftly and without harm or foul to voters.

As your Chair, I've worked diligently to address this breach in public trust while ensuring election integrity and a fair result. The right to vote is at the heart of our democracy and it is our commitment to see that each ballot cast is counted accurately for all races on the ticket regardless of party affiliation. As a result, the Bloomington Election Commission will count all ballots that were originally cast, early voting has resumed for Bloomington voters with the correct ballots provided, and solutions for those who have already voted by mail and who have early voted are being currently being determined.

In solidarity,

Chairwoman Nikita Richards
